SENIOR LAB TECHNICIAN

Position: Senior Lab Technician

Organization: Fielco, LLC

Location: Huntingdon Valley, Pennsylvania - 40 minutes north of Philadelphia

Scope: The Senior Lab Technician position at Fielco, LLC encompasses three major functions and a number of other minor responsibilities associated with lab work. The three major responsibilities involve Inventory Management and Control, Quality Control testing and general research and development technician functions. The three responsibilities will combine in equal proportions to take up 80% of the position's time. The other 20% of the time will be devoted to minor functions such as housekeeping and sample shipping. Occasionally, the need will arise to assist plant personnel in either shipping and receiving or batch preparation and packaging as well.

Responsibilities:

  1. Laboratory Technician responsibilities including sample preparation and testing under supervision.
  2. The use of mechanical and thermal analysis equipment in the lab as well as the preparation of samples for such equipment.
  3. Quality control functions including the generation of data on batches as well as statistical plots of numerous lot data points.
  4. The preparation of competitive testing reports and assist in the preparation of seminars.
  5. Inventory control functions with regard to physical and computer inventories of both the Lab and Plant.
  6. Data input on the computer with regard to all incoming and outgoing shipments as well as limited ordering responsibilities.
  7. Assist in batch scheduling and lot designating for outgoing orders.
  8. Responsible for meeting Fielco's internal requirements with regard to shipping dates and turn around time.
  9. Coordinating product manufacturing and shipping at tolling location.
  10. Responsible for lab housekeeping duties and maintenance of the lab as a company showpiece.
  11. Limited responsibilities and full knowledge of shipping and receiving procedures as well as limited batch preparation responsibilities.
  12. Contributions of innovative ideas with regard to all Company operations as well as an innovative approach to research and development functions.

Minimum Job requirements:

  1. 5 to 7 years minimum experience.
  2. Demonstrated computer literacy with such programs as Lotus 123, graphics programs and word processing.
  3. Bachelor Degree in science with a concentration in chemistry or equivalent.
  4. Good inter personnel skills - this is essential in dealing with customers and internal staff.
  5. Excellent record keeping skills and a demonstrated mastery at algebra.
  6. An ability to respond to changes in the business environment as well as job function.
